About Us

The Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia is the National organization promoting the preservation, rebuilding and above all flying of old aeroplanes.  “Old” includes Antique, Classic and Contemporary aeroplanes both Civil and Military.

The AAAA was formed in 1974 by a group of owners and enthusiasts to fill a need, a need for an association to represent the interests of owners of old aeroplanes at a time where aircraft were being exported or forced out of the air by heavy Government charges.

The AAAA is an incorporated association.  It is run by a committee of members elected at the annual general meeting.  The association has no salaried officials and is completely self-funded, receiving no Government subsidies.

The most important role of the Association has been to give owners and enthusiasts a unified voice with which to speak to Government instrumentalities.

We are recognised spokespersons for the old aeroplane ‘scene’ in Australia.

Membership is open to all; to pilots, non-pilots, restorers, owners, non-owners and people simply interested in being associated with other enthusiasts.

All members receive a copy of the Association news magazine ‘Rag & Tube’ published quarterly, an Association decal for car or aeroplane and an Association wall calendar with the details of the various events we run around the country throughout the year.  The membership card acts as a pass for free admission to our fly-ins and like membership, everyone is welcome, all they need is a common interest in aviation.
