COLAC FLY-IN & TARNDIE HOMESTEAD VISIT

COLAC, VIC 31 MAY 2025


Fly into Colac (YOLA) and visit historic Tarndie Homestead (link below) for an interesting day out in the Western District. Members are encouraged to bring their partners and families.  


Tarndie Homestead

Program

       Arrive YOLA by 1100

       Shuttle bus to Tarndie 1130 (15MIN)

       Morning tea and talk from owners.

       Tour of restored areas of homestead/Gardens and wool craft activities 1230

        Light Country style lunch 1300

        Bus back to airfield at about 1400  - 1430

Option for a look at Birregurra, just down the road.

For any that may want to stay overnight, we can arrange dinner in the Birri Pub and breakfast in Birri. Please contact Russell (see details below).

Cost

$60 per person to be paid on arrival. 

Overnight Accommodation 

Underwing Camping. Camping with the aircraft or on the grass around the club room is welcome. The club room, lounge TV and kitchen facilities are available. Transport for an evening meal/drink in Birregurra can be provided.

B&B A very comfortable B&B Country style house is available. This has two double bed rooms, a large lounge room with open fire, kitchen and beautiful country views. This can be booked on the Tarndie Website.  Mention you are part of the Antique Aeroplane group.


EVENT LOCATION: COLAC AIRFIELD (YOLA)


Located 5.5nm north-east of Colac township, Colac Airfield has both sealed and grass runways. 


ELEV. 450 ft                 CTAF  126.7


Runways

09-27 Sealed (approx 880m)  (15m grass usable either side of bitumen). 

18-36 Grass (approx 600m)


Parking 

Parking will be on grass west of runway 18-36 and north of runway 09-27.   Tiedowns are essential, please remember to bring them. 


Fuel

AVGAS is available from the IOR bowser - 10CPL discount applicable for AAAA members via the FuelCharge app.  


Traffic

Colac is used by training aircraft from Moorabbin who may not be using the most into wind runway.  Please establish contact with traffic on CTAF if requiring a change of runway.
