GRASS ROOTS FLY-IN
LOCKHART, NSW 13-14 SEPTEMBER 2025
This year the Grass Roots Fly-in heads to Lockhart Airfield (OZLOT), in central NSW.
Once threatened with closure by the Council, the airfield has been revitalised by the Lockhart Airfield Users Group, and the fly-in is a great opportunity to show our support.
On the edge of Lockhart township, the airfield has a long, wide, and smooth grass runway, lots of grassed areas for parking, and a picturesque setting.
This is a back-to-basics event where everyone is encouraged to camp under wing, fly until sunset, enjoy a meal on the airfield, and swap tales by the fire pit. Remember to bring your tents, torches and camp chairs!
Toilet facilities are available at the Lockhart Airfield User Group clubroom. Meals will be provided by the Lockhart Anglers Club, on a pay on consumption basis.
Lockhart is an historic agricultural town with much to see and do.
Lockhart Attractions
The airfield is an easy 3km walk to town, and a courtesy car will also be available.
REGISTRATION
As this is a basic fly-in with pay as you go meals, no event fee is required. However please register your attendance so we know how many people and aircraft to expect!
ACCOMMODATION
Under wing camping in tents and swags is highly encouraged. Limited accommodation is available in town as shown below -

MEALS
Lockhart Anglers Club will provide meals over the weekend. Saturday BBQ lunch, Saturday casserole dinner and Sunday bacon and egg roll breakfast will all be available on a pay as go basis.
To help will catering please indicate in your registration which on-airfield meals you want.
EVENT LOCATION: LOCKHART (OZLOT)
Located immediately north-east of Lockhart township, Lockhart Airfield is a grass airfield in great condition!
Lockhart can be found in OzRunways by its aerodrome code OZLOT.
ELEV. 581 ft AREA FREQ 118.6 THERE IS NO SEPARATE CTAF
Runway
06-25 Grass (approx 1200m)
(The runway is clearly marked with runway markers. There is space to taxi parallel to the runway on the south side outside the markers).
Parking
Parking will be on grass in the vicinity of the aero club, and along the south side of the runway. Tiedowns are essential, please remember to bring them.
Fuel
Fuel is available at Wagga Wagga or Narrandera
Landing Fees
There are no landing fees, however a contribution of $5/aircraft would be appreciated by the Lockhart Airfield Users Group to help with the upkeep of the airfield.
